Imago Foundation for the Arts Announces
a-6-month exhibition opportunity for artists 30 and younger

(except those currently enrolled in an academic program)

Imago Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is pleased to announce an opportunity for an artist 30 years of age or younger to participate as an exhibiting artist at Imago for six months from July 1 through December 31, 2025 at no charge. This opportunity is designed to support and foster the growth of a talented artist, age 30 or under. The selected artist will be able to display their artwork, learn from other artists, help with gallery events and interact with the public.

Further Details: 

  • Duration: 6 months, July 1 – December 31, 2025.

  • Mentorship and Collaboration: The artist will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced curators and installation specialists, gaining hands-on experience with both group exhibitions and the installation of their own work. They’ll also be welcome to participate in IFA’s portrait drawing sessions, film club nights, and other community activities.

  • Community Engagement: It is expected that the artist will participate in IFA events, including gallery sitting, receptions, artist talks, and community outreach activities. 

  • Artist Talk: During the December exhibit the selected artist will be invited to give an Artist Talk in the gallery about their work and their experience at Imago. 

 

Benefits:

  • Exhibition of Artist’s work: The selected artist will be able to display 1 to 3 works of art in four different Imago exhibits that happen between July 17 and December 21, 2025.

  • Community Engagement: Participants will have the opportunity to interact with other artists, curators, and art lovers through IFA’s diverse events and programs.

  • Learning Opportunities: Through this program, the selected artist exposure with have the opportunity to interact with exhibiting artists, gain technical and career guidance and insight into the art world, particularly related to gallery exhibition processes.

 

Eligibility and Submission Requirements:

  • Eligibility: Open to artists who are 30 years old or younger (except those currently enrolled in an academic program) at the time of application.

  • Time Requirements: The selected artist must be able to participate in in this experience for the full six months, creating and displaying work during this time. No housing or transportation is being offered with this opportunity.

  • Application Deadline: 11:59 PM EDT on May 15, 2025

 

Submission Requirements:

  • Portfolio: Artists should submit a portfolio of 6-10 images of recent work that demonstrates artistic vision, technical skill, and potential for growth.

  • Statement of Intent: A brief (300-500 words) statement describing the artist’s artistic practice, goals for this opportunity, and how they would like to engage with the IFA community and resources.

  • Résumé/CV: A current resume or CV detailing the artist’s education, exhibitions, and any other relevant experience.

  • Letter of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a professional in the arts (such as teacher, curator, or fellow artist) who can speak to the artist's potential and their commitment to their practice.

 

Selection Process:

  • A panel of three will review applications. One member of the IFA Exhibition Committee, one member from the IFA Membership Committee and one external advisor will select the recipient of this opportunity.

  • All applications will be reviewed based on the quality of the portfolio, the artist’s potential for growth, and their ability to engage with this opportunity.

 

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline:  May 15, 2025 by 11:59 PM

  • Notification of Selection: June 1, 2025 

  • Start Date: July 1, 2025

  • End Date: December 31, 2025

 

Sales and Commissions:

  • Sales: Artwork exhibited during this opportunity must be available for sale while on exhibit. 

  • Commissions: Imago Foundation for the Arts will retain a 20% commission on any artwork sold.
