Coastal Communities

This series of oil on panel, panoramic paintings features the south shoreline of the Kickemuit River and the Bristol Narrows. There is a special light that permeates RI because of the presence of bays, rivers and the Atlantic Ocean. There are a couple hundred miles of coastal communities tucked along these shores. This is my love letter to Rhode Island.

As an artist, my goal is to bring attention to that which may go unnoticed, even by those who have spent years exploring the waterways of Rhode Island.

These communities share a history of both pleasure and pain in their experience of living so close to the water’s edge. There is a special bond that the residents share in a communal experience. Climate change will ultimately alter the Rhode Island coast. My series will eventually reveal what has been lost, that these coastal communities are a treasure.
