After nearly two decades of creating large-scale expressive pastel drawings, Dondero uses photography, digital montage, assemblage, and installation to explore the distance between what we see and what we understand by presenting artwork that address women's lives, memory, overlooked histories, and systems of harm.
Entitled “Looking Is Not Knowing,” Dondero’s new work invites viewers to question first impressions and to consider how meaning is formed, and how it often remains incomplete as she presents layered imagery, found objects, obscured surfaces, and acts of concealment and revelation.

Pat Warwick | IFA Spotlight Artist
Working with discarded and found objects, Warwick presents compositions that reference relics, shrines, fine art and sometimes just fun stuff. Each little piece of junk she sees as a brushstroke, line, or color that together forms a bit of a curiosity.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Warwick has made a career in art for over 50 years be it graphic design, ceramics, painting, collage, or assemblage. Currently, she has turned her focus to painting/collage and assemblage.

Nyala Honda | Guest Artist
Nyala Honda is a ceramic artist creating work that explores craft through the lens of genre painting. Inspired by mapping, scientific methodologies, and the concept of personal mythologies, she creates collage-like narratives and extended metaphors that investigate the ways in which place, secrecy, and disjointedness assert themselves in our relationships and affect our sense of self. Through drawings of mechanisms, natural motifs and text, she uses principles of craft and the implicit qualities of clay to express a sense of escapism, dissociation and constructed reality.

Refraction through Perennially, stoneware, Nyala Honda
Honda's work in this exhibit represents her exploration of refraction and how light moves through two transparencies. She says, “Refraction is manipulative alchemy, no tangible change, just a new lens to move through. I see it through the window I consider my favorite, in the apparition of a broken pencil in a cup of water, in looking through your glasses with a prescription that is not mine, in the light through the glass in my kitchen on Thursday, making patterns on my walls.” This exploration is represented both in ceramics vessels and a series of mixed media lenses that she has formed.
